There wasn't much emphasis by the staff to encourage guests to be quiet when other guests were sleeping (particularly during quiet hours).

No mention anywhere in it's advertising or on lonely planet that I saw that's 4 flights of stairs up! Difficult to sleep early with the conversations in the 'mess' a little too cosy if you don't like that,

As my first time staying at a backpacker, PTW has set a pretty high bar for which others will have to try and meet. The staff were excellent- courteous, helpful, and professional whilst never seeming too distant or removed. I really enjoyed my stay and am sure I will be back again later in the spring.

Absolutely, the best hostel ever!!!!! If you're looking to get a real travelers experience, at low cost, do yourself a favor and check in to Pacific Tradewinds. The staff is amazing, genuinely good trustworthy people that know how to show travelers a good time. This hostel is now my home away from home, and I mean that sincerely.

I am so glad I stayed here. The staff was super welcoming and very helpful. The hostel had a great vibe and environment. I can't wait for my next stay! :)

This is generally the highest rated hostel in SF, but I don't understand why. Don't get me wrong, it's fine, but I can't say I got a friendly or welcoming vibe from the place. The dorm rooms and bathrooms are tiny. I think you'd be better off at the HI hostels.

I really enjoyed my time here. Staff put a big emphasis on meeting and socializing with other travelers and as such you are guaranteed to have a great time and meet some awesome people. Great hostel and fantastic staff!
