Designed and functioning more like a hotel. Room cleaned daily and fresh towel provided. Good for pairs of travelers or small groups. Though certainly not a hostel atmosphere, I met some other solo travelers there with whom I did much sightseeing. Staff are very helpful and accomodating. I asked lots of questions; they indulged me kindly. In winter rooms are slightly chilly, despite air-cons doubling as heaters. Comforters provided are quite toasty though.

The place was absolutely fantastic, though just so you know it's more of a hotel than a hostel. Also, it's about a ten minute walk or so from anything interesting. No real hassle though, and if you prefer some peace and quiet this is the place to be.

The staff is very helpful, and get help you get ticket. Perfect english spoken

We had a fantastic time staying here, the rooms are clean and large and fantastic value for money. It is central, but back from the main street, making it quieter at night. The owners, Steven and Lily, are incredibly helpful and pleasant, and made some great suggestions for activities that are highlights of our time in China - however, the sleeper bus was not one of these - take the train from Guilin instead.

One of the best hostels I've ever been. Especially the care of the staff is excellent.

Tremendous staff of two, thanks Steve and Lily. Basically a small, quiet hotel at the price of a hostel, rooms were a little small but had wireless Internet and cable TV, western toilet and heatAC. Would definitely recommend this place, having been to a few other places in Yangshuo, the West Lily beats them on price and quality. Pretty much a perfect place to stay, see you again soon, I know you must read these things :)

This Hostel was awesome. It was very easy to find from the directions. The couple that runs it was super nice and very helpful. We purchased trips to the caves and a boat trip through them and the arrangements were perfect and saved us a lot of money. Very clean and good size room. Great shower and sit style toilets. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again. Do not believe anyone who tries to tell you that it doesn't exist or you got scammed.

I stayed 2 nights at West Lily hostel on 1~2 Jan 2009. The staff were helpful. The location was good. The only one bad thing during my stay was that there were bad smell came from toilet when the toilet ventilation was on if you didn't close the toilet door.

This hotel is nicely decorated, but there is almost no character aside from generic "old Chinese" furniture. Bed is hard, staff is helpful and friendly, rooms are clean, and the ac will double as a heater. There is always someone in the lobby so security is good. Not much to say about fun - there is no cafe or restaurant to hang out in.
