Hostal Loreto is a comfortable, family run hostel with 43 bedrooms and a lively cafe/restaurant. All of the rooms have televisions, air conditioning, ceiling fans, en-suite bathrooms and security boxes. The building dates from the sixteenth century and is a former nunnery. It is located in a pedestrian area in the medieval centre of the old town close to many shops and restaurants and overlooked by a Moorish castle. It is rumored that a secret tunnel ran from the old nunnery to the castle. Within a short walking distance of the hotel are 20 kilometers of beautiful beaches, excellent ferry links to Ibiza and the Balearic (Majorca and Minorca) and train and bus stations. The trip to Ibiza takes just over two hours on the fast ferry. The journey time from Alicante airport or Valencia airport to Denia is about an hour by car on the AP-7 motorway. The city itself is a bustling historic port with its own fishing fleet and two marinas protected by the hilltop castle and surrounded by acres of orange groves. There are many water sports available in the local area including scuba diving, sailing, boat hire, wind-surfing and kite-surfing. There are also facilities for golf, hiking, horse riding, tennis, mountain-biking and climbing. We can supply entry tickets with special discounts for many attractions which are only a short drive away such as Terra Mitica (adventure park), Terra Natura (nature park), Aqualandia (water park), Mundomar (sea-life park) and the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (science park) in Valencia. However some people come just to enjoy the 20 kilometres of beautiful beaches! The hostel houses a popular cafe/restaurant which fronts onto a street terrace in a pedestrian area. There is also a pleasantly cool XIV century patio where guests may breakfast. At lunchtimes the restaurant offers a three course 'menu del dia' including a glass of wine. The menu, which changes daily, costs 10 euros. Guests have the option of pre-paid full- or half-pension arrangements which offer a discount to the normal restaurant prices. The bar and restaurant are open all day from 8:00 in the morning until midnight serving drinks and snacks including a wide range of coffees and ice-creams.In August there is a two night minimum stay for weekend bookings (Friday-Saturday).
